Contests
From Civ World
Contests are periodic time-based opportunities to gain Fame points for playing with exceptional skill or dedication. Contests are displayed in the Market screen in the same place that Auctions are positioned. Auctions and Contests do not run simultaneously.
Each Contest will display its subject or objective, the time remaining in the Contest, the current high score of all players in the game, and the individual player's high score for comparison. Contests automatically track the progress of all players -- there is no need to opt in.
If you win a Contest you will get a promotion and increase your rank in your current Civ, and earn +1 fame and +1 civbuck.
Contests run for a set period of time, displayed as a countdown timer in the Contest frame in the Market screen. When the timer expires, the current high-scoring player will win the Contest. If a player has tied the current high score, the tie will favor the player that first achieved the score.
