The members of each civilization are organized into ranks, each with special powers and bonuses to Fame points when the civilization wins an Era victory.
Players improve their rank by winning medals and earning promotions.

King / Queen
The #1 member of the civilization is always the King or Queen. Kings/Queens have these powers:
- Start a vote to invade another civilization
- Propose Civics
- Gain 4x Fame points for an Era victory
- Five votes to use on proposals for invasions and Civics
Prince / Princess
The top 15% of the players in the civilization are Princes or Princesses. Princes/Princesses have these powers:
- Start a vote to invade another civilization
- Propose Civics
- Gain 3x Fame points for an Era victory
- Three votes to use on proposals for invasions and Civics
Duke / Duchess
The middle 30% of the players in the civilization are Dukes or Duchesses. Dukes/Duchesses have these powers:
- Propose Civics
- Gain 2x Fame points for an Era victory
- Two votes to use on proposals for invasions and Civics
Lord / Lady
The bottom 55% of the players in the civilization are Lords or Ladies. Lords/Ladies have no powers except to propose Civics. They receive one vote to use on proposals for invasions or Civics.
